Hyperthyroidism is an endocrinal disease in dogs caused due to thyroid enlargement of functional thyroid, known as edematous hyperplasia. Though it is rare, Hyperthyroidism occurs most commonly in middle or old age digs. Also, there is no specific sex or breed to be affected, some dog breeds have got more cases of the disease than others. Hyperthyroidism has symptoms such as, increased heart rate, increased appetite, weight loss, increased intake of water and urination, nervousness, and increased activity. Some less common symptoms are low appetite, weakness, low activity and heavy breathing. Its diagnosis depends upon clinical signs and blood tests.
